Bob Anderson is a Scottish-Canadian photographer whose professional career spans 5 decades. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he attended the Glasgow School of Art before receiving a diploma in creative photography from the Derby College of Art (now part of the University of Derby).  Following his graduation in 1970, he moved to London and worked as a photographer’s assistant, before returning to Scotland to work for a number of arts organizations including the Citizens Theatre, Scottish National Orchestra and Scottish Opera Company.

In 1974, Anderson left the UK for Canada, where he began working as a contract photographer in Ottawa covering Parliament Hill for the Toronto Star. Over the following decade, Anderson’s work expanded to include assignments for the National Film Board of Canada, magazines, corporate annual reports, and advertising agencies.

Parallel to his commercial work, Anderson continued to pursue personal photographic projects. Work from some of these projects is part of the permanent collections of The National Gallery of Canada, The Art Gallery of Ontario, and Library and Archives Canada.

Today, Bob splits his time between summers in Canada and winters in the high desert of Marfa, Texas, accompanied always by his dog, Nell.
